Dr. Mehrab Mehrvar

Dr. Mehrab Mehrvar, Ph.D., P.Eng., joined Toronto Metropolitan University in Canada in 1998, where he is now Full Professor, Interim Associate Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science, and Associate Chair for Graduate Studies in the Department of Chemical Engineering. He received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada. Dr. Mehrvar is deeply committed to research, with primary interests in integrating advanced oxidation technologies and biological processes for water and wastewater treatment, as well as in photochemical reaction engineering. He has authored or co-authored one patent, over 134 refereed journal papers, six book chapters, 37 conference proceedings papers, and more than 250 conference presentations and invited seminars. Over his career, Dr. Mehrvar has supervised or co-supervised more than 55 graduate students at the master’s and doctoral levels, as well as over 80 research assistants, exchange students, postdoctoral fellows, and visiting scholars. He has also served as a guest editor and as an editorial board member for several refereed journals. Additionally, he has chaired and participated as an organizing and scientific committee member in numerous international conferences. Dr. Mehrvar has taught a variety of courses in Chemical and Environmental Engineering at both undergraduate and graduate levels and previously served as the Department Chair for a couple of years. He has received multiple prestigious teaching and research awards from both the University of Waterloo and Toronto Metropolitan University.
Dr. Zhi Chen

Dr. Zhi Chen received his PhD degree from the University of Regina, Canada and B.Eng. from the Dalian University of Technology, China. He worked at the University of Regina, the National Research Council Canada (NRC), and Oil & Gas industry before he joined Concordia University in 2004.
His research interests include Modeling of Pollutant’s Fate and Transport in the Environment, Risk Assessment, Air Pollution, and Environmental Application of Systems Analysis and Information Technology. Research results and the developed models have been applied to the pollution control planning, management of soil and groundwater contamination, and coastal environmental protection.
Dr. Charles Lee

Dr Lee has more than 25 years’ experience in environmental research, teaching and consulting in North America, and Asia-Pacific countries. His experience encompasses consulting at one of the top environmental consulting firms in the USA, R&D at the Agency for Science Technology and Research (A*Star, Singapore), and academic teaching and research at the University. He is the Program Convenor for the Bachelor of Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (BEnvOHS) program. His research areas include environmental sustainability, environmental waste management, environmental health, and biotechnology solutions to industrial waste treatment.
